Modularity aided consistent attributed graph clustering via coarsening

arXiv:2407.07128v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Graph clustering is an important unsupervised learning technique for partitioning graphs with attributes and detecting communities. However, current methods struggle to accurately capture true community structures and intra-cluster relations, be computationally efficient, and identify smaller communities. We address these challenges by integrating coarsening and modularity maximization, effectively leveraging both adjacency and node features to enhance clustering accuracy. We propose a loss function incorporating log-determinant, smoothness, and modularity components using a block majorization-minimization technique, resulting in superior clustering outcomes. The method is theoretically consistent under the Degree-Corrected Stochastic Block Model (DC-SBM), ensuring asymptotic error-free performance and…

ItTakesTwo: Leveraging Peer Representations for Semi-supervised LiDAR Semantic Segmentation

arXiv:2407.07171v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: The costly and time-consuming annotation process to produce large training sets for modelling semantic LiDAR segmentation methods has motivated the development of semi-supervised learning (SSL) methods. However, such SSL approaches often concentrate on employing consistency learning only for individual LiDAR representations. This narrow focus results in limited perturbations that generally fail to enable effective consistency learning. Additionally, these SSL approaches employ contrastive learning based on the sampling from a limited set of positive and negative embedding samples. This paper introduces a novel semi-supervised LiDAR semantic segmentation framework called ItTakesTwo (IT2). IT2 is designed to ensure…

Migrating from MySQL to PostgreSQL

Migrating from MySQL to PostgreSQL

Migrating a database from MySQL to Postgres is a challenging process. While MySQL and Postgres do a similar job, there are some fundamental differences between them and those differences can create issues that need addressing for the migration to be successful. Where to start? Pg Loader is a tool that can be used to move your data to PostgreSQL, however, it's not perfect, but can work well in some cases. It's worth looking at to see if it's the direction you want to go. Another approach to take is to create custom scripts. Custom scripts offer greater flexibility and scope…

Jeff Bridges says he’s ‘feeling great’ 3 years after contracting COVID while undergoing chemotherapy

Jeff Bridges is more than ready to go ahead with the season two premiere of his FX series "The Old Man," three years after he contracted COVID-19 while undergoing chemotherapy.Bridges appeared on Wednesday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour alongside his "Old Man" costar John Lithgow and executive producers Jonathan Steinberg, Dan Shotz, and Warren Littlefield. Bridges spoke about the show's upcoming second season and gave an update on his health."I'm feeling great now. I'm coming back for more punishment," Bridges said. Bridges announced in October 2020 that he had been diagnosed with lymphoma. Early the following year…

Beyond the gen AI hype: Google Cloud shares key learnings

We want to hear from you! Take our quick AI survey and share your insights on the current state of AI, how you’re implementing it, and what you expect to see in the future. Learn More Is bigger always better when it comes to large language models (LLMs)?  “Well, the answer is quite simply yes and no,” Yasmeen Ahmad, managing director of strategy and outbound product management for data, analytics and AI at Google Cloud, said onstage at VB Transform this week.  LLMs do get better with size — but not indefinitely, she pointed out. Huge models with a large…

Foundation Models for Electrocardiograms

[Submitted on 26 Jun 2024] View a PDF of the paper titled Foundation Models for Electrocardiograms, by Junho Song and 5 other authors View PDF HTML (experimental) Abstract:Foundation models, enhanced by self-supervised learning (SSL) techniques, represent a cutting-edge frontier in biomedical signal analysis, particularly for electrocardiograms (ECGs), crucial for cardiac health monitoring and diagnosis. This study conducts a comprehensive analysis of foundation models for ECGs by employing and refining innovative SSL methodologies - namely, generative and contrastive learning - on a vast dataset of over 1.1 million ECG samples. By customizing these methods to align with the intricate characteristics of…
