Knowledge AI: Fine-tuning NLP Models for Facilitating Scientific Knowledge Extraction and Understanding

arXiv:2408.04651v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: This project investigates the efficacy of Large Language Models (LLMs) in understanding and extracting scientific knowledge across specific domains and to create a deep learning framework: Knowledge AI. As a part of this framework, we employ pre-trained models and fine-tune them on datasets in the scientific domain. The models are adapted for four key Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks: summarization, text generation, question answering, and named entity recognition. Our results indicate that domain-specific fine-tuning significantly enhances model performance in each of these tasks, thereby improving their applicability for scientific contexts. This adaptation enables non-experts to…

OpenAI Has an AI Cheating Tool That’s Been Under Wraps for Months

OpenAI has been sitting on a tool that detects when individuals use ChatGPT to write essays or research papers. Despite rising concerns about AI-driven cheating, the tool remains under wraps, reports the Wall Street Journal. Internal debates have kept this technology on the sidelines for over a year. With the introduction of anti-cheating features, a significant portion of ChatGPT’s regular users are rethinking their usage, sparking serious concerns about the repercussions. OpenAI’s anti-cheating technology leverages a powerful watermarking technique. It subtly alters the tokens—small text segments—produced by ChatGPT to create a pattern that indicates AI authorship. A single gold coin could fetch more than $1 million as ancient coin collection goes to auction after 100 years of secrecy

A rare Danish gold coin could fetch more than $1 million when it goes to auction next month, kicking off the sale of one of the most mysterious coin collections ever. The 1496 King Hans Gold Noble coin is part of the collection that once belonged to Danish businessman and butter tycoon Lars Emil Bruun.Brunn spent decades compiling the 20,000 or so coins, bank notes, medals, and tokens that make up the set. The collection has been kept out of the public eye for over a century due to a stipulation in Bruun's will that forbade the sale of the coins…

Supernovas, Black Holes and Streaming Data

OverviewThis blog post is a follow-up to the session From Supernovas to LLMs at Data + AI Summit 2024, where I demonstrated how anyone can consume and process publicly available NASA satellite data from Apache Kafka.Unlike most Kafka demos, which are not easily reproducible or rely on simulated data, I will show how to analyze a live data stream from NASA's publicly accessible Gamma-ray Coordinates Network (GCN) which integrates data from supernovas and black holes coming from various satellites. While it's possible to craft a solution using only open source Apache Spark™ and Apache Kafka, I will show the significant advantages…

Trump Returns to X With Several Posts Ahead of Musk Interview

Former President Donald Trump posted several times on X, the social network formerly known as Twitter, after more than three years of virtual silence on the platform as he gears up for an interview with owner Elon Musk. Trump, who posted on Twitter at all hours during his presidency, was banned for life from the network following his role in encouraging rioters at the US Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. After Musk purchased Twitter in late 2022, later renaming it X, he reinstated Trump’s account. But the former president had posted just once since then — a photo of his…

WeRide Debut Is A Test Drive For A Slow IPO Market

In recent months, the tech IPO market has been stuck in what seems to be the slowest gear imaginable. Action will pick up in coming days, however, with the expected Nasdaq debut of Chinese autonomous driving startup WeRide. The Guangzhou-based company is seeking to raise $120 million in an offering that would reportedly set an initial valuation of up to $5 billion. It also plans to raise around $320 million in a concurrent private investment. As startup IPOs go, WeRide’s financials aren’t anything we haven’t seen before. Like most venture-backed companies targeting the public market, it is far from profitable.…

Adversarially Robust Industrial Anomaly Detection Through Diffusion Model

arXiv:2408.04839v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Deep learning-based industrial anomaly detection models have achieved remarkably high accuracy on commonly used benchmark datasets. However, the robustness of those models may not be satisfactory due to the existence of adversarial examples, which pose significant threats to the practical deployment of deep anomaly detectors. Recently, it has been shown that diffusion models can be used to purify the adversarial noises and thus build a robust classifier against adversarial attacks. Unfortunately, we found that naively applying this strategy in anomaly detection (i.e., placing a purifier before an anomaly detector) will suffer from a high anomaly…

Harness the power of AI and ML using Splunk and Amazon SageMaker Canvas | Amazon Web Services

As the scale and complexity of data handled by organizations increase, traditional rules-based approaches to analyzing the data alone are no longer viable. Instead, organizations are increasingly looking to take advantage of transformative technologies like machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) to deliver innovative products, improve outcomes, and gain operational efficiencies at scale. Furthermore, the democratization of AI and ML through AWS and AWS Partner solutions is accelerating its adoption across all industries. For example, a health-tech company may be looking to improve patient care by predicting the probability that an elderly patient may become hospitalized by analyzing both…
