Gemini now powers a new Google Home tool, “Help Me Create,” simplifying home automation. Instead of navigating complex menus, you can set up routines by describing them in plain language.
For instance, when you say, “Turn on the Christmas lights outside, play my Holiday tunes playlist, and turn on the Christmas tree lights every night at sunset,” Gemini will set up the sequence automatically.
This addition makes creating smart home routines more intuitive and accessible.
Google Home gets Gemini AI features
The integration also extends to a Google Home extension within the Gemini app, allowing you to manage lights, thermostats, and other devices directly from Gemini.
Google has expanded its Gemini AI capabilities across various platforms, enhancing smart home automation and user experience with new features.
Previously, Google introduced Gemini-powered AI enhancements for Nest cameras, enabling natural language search of camera history.
For example, Nest Aware Plus subscribers can now ask questions like “Did someone deliver a package today?” to find relevant footage.
Though currently limited to certain users, this feature highlights the evolving intelligence of Nest’s monitoring capabilities.
On Google TV, a new control panel lets you access smart home devices and live camera feeds directly from the TV.
Further additions include an enhanced overview feature for shows on Google TV, which provides more information to help you decide what to watch.
Other updates for home devices include always-on home controls on the Nest Hub, a “dream clock” for the Pixel Tablet, a Google Home favorites widget for Android, shared member access for smart home controls, and improved media controls in the Google Home app.
However, you’ll have to wait a bit to use these features as the company says that Gemini AI features will come to Google Home later this year.
