PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and OpenAI today signed an agreement making the PwC the first reseller for ChatGPT Enterprise, bringing generative AI deeper into the enterprise for customers in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Launched in August, ChatGPT Enterprise provides unlimited access to the latest and greatest models that OpenAI has to provide, including GPT-4 and the broadest context windows available. It also delivers the best-in-class security and privacy alongside the ability to customize and prepare models for enterprise-grade solutions by using data sources close to business needs.
Through Enterprise access, customers will get their hands on the newly released GPT-4o flagship model, which includes multimodal capabilities focused on real-time voice and video. The “o” stands for “omni,” in a step toward making the model feel more like speaking to or working with another human being, as the model can respond in near real time to visuals and speech almost like talking to a live person.
PwC said that it is also one of the largest users of OpenAI’s ChatGPT product, stating that across its U.S. consulting clients, 950 of the firm’s 1,000 accounts are currently actively engaged in building AI applications using the technology. The company said in a statement that this represents what appears to be “near-universal demand across industries.”
This deal follows on from a three-year $1 billion investment in generative AI designed to expand offerings for clients in the U.S. to power business PwC announced April 2023. Since then, the company has already identified more than 3,000 internal use cases for generative AI and potential applications for clients across industries, including financial services, healthcare, manufacturing and hospitality.
“Our clients are eager to get their hands on the latest GenAI models and tools that can unlock business transformation while also making AI more accessible with seamless integration of data and services, support for multimodal inputs and outputs, and improved AI performance and speed,” Bret Greenstein, PwC partner and generative AI leader, told SiliconANGLE. “By having access to ChatGPT Enterprise’s comprehensive platform, we can create custom GPTs tailored to different use cases that will enhance end user productivity, as well as provide enterprise characteristics that are essential for business such as security, privacy, and compliance.”
According to PwC’s 27th Annual Global CEO Survey, CEOs are beginning to see AI as a burgeoning resource that can be deployed to assist their companies in 2024. About half identified it as having the potential to enhance their ability to build trust with stakeholders, and about 60% said it could improve product or service quality. Some 68% said that within the next three years, generative AI would be part of their competitive outlook.
The agreement with OpenAI will also enable PwC clients in the U.S. to share their experience and skills with clients across different industries as part of the My AI upskilling program, the company said. This program has already led almost 95% of PwC’s workforce to dedicate more than 360,000 hours voluntarily to learning how to use generative AI tools and other educational activities.
