No Matter How You Do It, Build Things

No Matter How You Do It, Build Things

Lets hit on an interesting point about the "demystification" of expertise. The trues is that, a lot of people who are good at something are reluctant to share their knowledge, especially if it means making their skills seem less special. The Paradox of Expertise: Reluctance to Share: It's a common phenomenon. People who've spent years honing their skills might feel threatened by the idea of making those skills accessible to others. It's like giving away a secret weapon. The Illusion of Complexity: Sometimes, the "magic" of a skill is in the perception of its complexity. When you break it down,…

[Game of Purpose] Day 73 – Improving animations with Blend Spaces

[Game of Purpose] Day 73 – Improving animations with Blend Spaces

Today I improved walking animations when hittin legs. My Animation state machine became cleaner than yesterday, because I used Animation Blend Space for animation between running<->walking<->limping right/left. It takes 2 params, SpeedPercent between 0 and 1, where: 0: standing still 1: running at full speed It also takes LegInjury between -1 and 1, where: -1: left leg fully injured 0: no leg injuries 1: right leg fully injured A problem I can see right now is that when falling down players capsule is still standing still. Don't know how to make it fall with a skeleton, yet. Source link lol

What’s the real point of Microservices? – should I start with Monolith

What’s the real point of Microservices? – should I start with Monolith

In my view, most of the hype around microservices got the concept totally wrong. The point of microservices is that we want to organise code in such a way that we have small independent systems that each do well-defined job. The original microservices post said that microservices were "organised around business capabilities", which is a term of art from service oriented architecture, where we look for the things that a business does. You can identify business capabilities by building a flow chart showing how your organisation generates value, and the key activities that happen at each step. You draw circles…

Google dismisses Elon Musk’s claim that autocomplete engaged in election interference

Google has responded to allegations that it “censored” searches about Donald Trump after Elon Musk baselessly claimed the company had imposed a “search ban” on the former president. The issues, Google explained, were due to bugs in its autocomplete feature. But Musk’s tweet, which was viewed more than 118 million times, nonetheless forced the search giant to publicly explain one of its most basic features.“Over the past few days, some people on X have posted claims that Search is ‘censoring’ or ‘banning’ particular terms,” Google wrote in a series of posts on X. “That’s not happening.”Though Google didn’t name Musk…

Atomic Design: UI Kit Strategy

The Concept of Atomic Design applied to a frontend package What is Atomic Design Atomic Design is a methodology for creating design systems in a hierarchical structure, starting from the simplest elements (atoms) to more complex structures (molecules and organisms). This approach allows designers to build consistent, scalable, and reusable components for user interfaces. By treating parts of the UI as part of a larger whole, Atomic Design streamlines the development process, ensuring a more efficient and cohesive design system that can be easily maintained and scaled over time.
