MedBench: A Comprehensive, Standardized, and Reliable Benchmarking System for Evaluating Chinese Medical Large Language Models

MedBench: A Comprehensive, Standardized, and Reliable Benchmarking System for Evaluating Chinese Medical Large Language Models

arXiv:2407.10990v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Ensuring the general efficacy and goodness for human beings from medical large language models (LLM) before real-world deployment is crucial. However, a widely accepted and accessible evaluation process for medical LLM, especially in the Chinese context, remains to be established. In this work, we introduce "MedBench", a comprehensive, standardized, and reliable benchmarking system for Chinese medical LLM. First, MedBench assembles the currently largest evaluation dataset (300,901 questions) to cover 43 clinical specialties and performs multi-facet evaluation on medical LLM. Second, MedBench provides a standardized and fully automatic cloud-based evaluation infrastructure, with physical separations for question…

Biden is lauding Kamala Harris, saying his VP ‘could be president of the United States’

President Joe Biden is heaping praise on Vice President Kamala Harris, saying she "could be the president of the United States."Speaking at a National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) event, he started by slamming former President Donald Trump for his claim that immigrants are "taking black jobs" during the presidential debate last month."I know what a black job is. It's the vice president of the United States," he said."Folks, because of you, I am president, and Kamala Harris is vice president," he said before adding: "And by the way, she's not only a great vice president, she…

Apple, NVIDIA and Anthropic reportedly used YouTube transcripts without permission to train AI models

Some of the world’s largest tech companies trained their AI models on a dataset that included transcripts of more than 173,000 YouTube videos without permission, a new investigation from Proof News has found. The dataset, which was created by a nonprofit company called EleutherAI, contains transcripts of YouTube videos from more than 48,000 channels and was used by Apple, NVIDIA and Anthropic among other companies. The findings of the investigation spotlight AI’s uncomfortable truth: the technology is largely built on the backs of data siphoned from creators without their consent or compensation. The dataset doesn’t include any videos or images from…

UFQA: Utility guided Fingerphoto Quality Assessment

arXiv:2407.11141v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Quality assessment of fingerprints captured using digital cameras and smartphones, also called fingerphotos, is a challenging problem in biometric recognition systems. As contactless biometric modalities are gaining more attention, their reliability should also be improved. Many factors, such as illumination, image contrast, camera angle, etc., in fingerphoto acquisition introduce various types of distortion that may render the samples useless. Current quality estimation methods developed for fingerprints collected using contact-based sensors are inadequate for fingerphotos. We propose Utility guided Fingerphoto Quality Assessment (UFQA), a self-supervised dual encoder framework to learn meaningful feature representations to assess fingerphoto…

2 European countries are going to lose millionaires in the next 4 years

Most developed countries are set to gain more wealthy people in the next five years — with two big outliers.UBS tracked 56 countries for its annual wealth report, released last week. The financial services firm found that 52 of them will add millionaires by 2028. Some countries, like Taiwan, will gain as many as 50% more millionaires during that time. But the United Kingdom and the Netherlands make "notable exceptions" on this list, per UBS, because both are forecasted to lose millionaires. The UK and the Netherlands had attracted "nomadic wealth" — people who chose to move to those countries, rather than…
