AWS Summit: Bedrock AI Service Gains Contextual Grounding

AWS Summit: Bedrock AI Service Gains Contextual Grounding

Amazon was one of the tech giants that agreed to a set of White House recommendations regarding the use of generative AI last year. The privacy considerations addressed in those recommendations continue to roll out, with the latest included in the announcements at the AWS Summit in New York on July 9. In particular, contextual grounding for Guardrails for Amazon Bedrock provides customizable content filters for organizations deploying their own generative AI. AWS Responsible AI Lead Diya Wynn spoke with TechRepublic in a virtual prebriefing about the new announcements and how companies balance generative AI’s wide-ranging knowledge with privacy and…

AIOps Drives Observability And Business Outcomes In IT

AIOps Drives Observability And Business Outcomes In IT

In my recent report, AIOps: A Crucial Component Of High-Performance IT, I speak to how AIOps is a critical tool for IT leaders aiming to run high-performance organizations. AIOps combines AI, machine learning, advanced analytics, and operational practices with business and operations data. AIOps enhances IT operations by enabling them to keep pace with business changes, elevating the impact of experiences on outcomes, reducing technical debt, repositioning internal processes as data-driven, and improving the organization’s understanding of how components work. Important to understand is that, whether you’re looking at BizOps, FinOps, IT financial management (ITFM), or even technology business management…

Gen Zs are better at ‘loud budgeting,’ but nearly half still need financial support from family: study

Gen Zs are struggling financially, and nearly half of them rely on their parents for support, a new study found.Bank of America released a report Wednesday outlining Gen Z's financial health, and things aren't looking too great for these 18- to 27-year-olds.The report — which is based on an Ipsos survey of more than a thousand young people conducted in April and May — found that 46% of Gen Zs in that age bracket rely on their parents or family members for financial assistance. It's not just in college, either; the report found that 30% of non-students get help from…

GeoWATCH for Detecting Heavy Construction in Heterogeneous Time Series of Satellite Images

GeoWATCH for Detecting Heavy Construction in Heterogeneous Time Series of Satellite Images

arXiv:2407.06337v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Learning from multiple sensors is challenging due to spatio-temporal misalignment and differences in resolution and captured spectra. To that end, we introduce GeoWATCH, a flexible framework for training models on long sequences of satellite images sourced from multiple sensor platforms, which is designed to handle image classification, activity recognition, object detection, or object tracking tasks. Our system includes a novel partial weight loading mechanism based on sub-graph isomorphism which allows for continually training and modifying a network over many training cycles. This has allowed us to train a lineage of models over a long period…
