Unlocking Data Potential: Cloudera Introduces Three New AI Assistants

Cloudera, a data management and analytics solutions company, has expanded its AI expertise and capabilities by announcing three new AI-powered assistants to help users drive valuable data insights.

The dramatic rise of GenAI has increased its visibility and adoption across industries. However, enterprises continue to face challenges in the timely development and deployment of data, analytics, and AI business applications. This has emerged as a major hurdle to translating AI’s immense potential into tangible business outcomes. 

Cloudera claims that its new AI assistants will allow enterprises to “get trusted data, analytics, and AI applications into production faster than ever”. This democratization of AI tools will allow employees at all levels to contribute to data-driven decision-making, ultimately driving faster and more impactful business outcomes. 

The new AI assistants are built to speed up the creation of data, analytics, and AI business applications. In addition, they will expand the scope of employees who can access these tools. The goal of the new offerings is to empower customers to transform their data anywhere into actionable insights. 

As part of the announcement, Cloudera highlighted a recently released report by Gartner that predicts that by 2026, GenAI will reduce manually intensive data management costs by up to 20% every year, quadrupling the number of new use cases. Cloudera wants to position itself as a facilitator for enterprises looking to take advantage of this opportunity. 

“The AI and ML technological gold rush has brought limitless potential for enterprises, but we’re still seeing significant growing pains across industries when it comes to driving valuable insights from AI,” said Andrew Brust, Blue Badge Insights. “For organizations to capitalize fully on this new frontier, enterprises need to effectively harness AI for business applications. That’s where Cloudera excels, especially as the company continues to infuse AI throughout the platform.”

The first of the new AI assistants introduced by Cloudea is the SQL AI Assistant designed to solve the common challenges associated with writing SQL queries, such as data discovery and query optimization. According to Cloudera, users of any technical level can become SQL experts using this new AI assistant. 

By using plain language to describe what they need, users can find relevant data through advanced techniques like retrieval augmented generation (RAG) and prompt engineering. Not only can the assistant optimize the query, but can also help explain it in easy-to-understand language. 

Cloudera’s second new AI assistant is the AI Chatbot in Cloudera Data Visualization offering a unique capability to engage directly with enterprise data to provide contextualized business insights.

Unlike the typical BI dashboards that offer limited interactivity and insights, this new AI assistant delivers deeper, more actionable insights to enterprises. Cloudera also claims that users can simply ask questions in plain language, and the AI tool has the intelligence to access and analyze the underlying data to deliver the most relevant and accurate output. 

Cloudera’s third addition to its suite of AI assistants is the Copilot for Cloudera Machine Learning built to solve common challenges of deploying AI and ML models. This AI assistant is powered by pre-trained large language models (LLMs). Seamlessly integrated with over 130 Hugging Face models and datasets, the Copilot for Cloudera Machine Learning offers support for the entire lifecycle of AI application development. 

Earlier this month, Cloudera deepened its AI expertise with the acquisition of Verta’s operation AI platform. The company also unveiled the next phase of open data lakehouse with Apache Iceberg for both public and private clouds in March this year. With the introduction of three new AI assistants, Cloudrea has further solidified its position in the highly competitive AI and ML landscape.
