TCFormer: Visual Recognition via Token Clustering Transformer

TCFormer: Visual Recognition via Token Clustering Transformer

arXiv:2407.11321v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Transformers are widely used in computer vision areas and have achieved remarkable success. Most state-of-the-art approaches split images into regular grids and represent each grid region with a vision token. However, fixed token distribution disregards the semantic meaning of different image regions, resulting in sub-optimal performance. To address this issue, we propose the Token Clustering Transformer (TCFormer), which generates dynamic vision tokens based on semantic meaning. Our dynamic tokens possess two crucial characteristics: (1) Representing image regions with similar semantic meanings using the same vision token, even if those regions are not adjacent, and (2)…

Exploring Gender-Specific Speech Patterns in Automatic Suicide Risk Assessment

Exploring Gender-Specific Speech Patterns in Automatic Suicide Risk Assessment

arXiv:2407.11012v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: In emergency medicine, timely intervention for patients at risk of suicide is often hindered by delayed access to specialised psychiatric care. To bridge this gap, we introduce a speech-based approach for automatic suicide risk assessment. Our study involves a novel dataset comprising speech recordings of 20 patients who read neutral texts. We extract four speech representations encompassing interpretable and deep features. Further, we explore the impact of gender-based modelling and phrase-level normalisation. By applying gender-exclusive modelling, features extracted from an emotion fine-tuned wav2vec2.0 model can be utilised to discriminate high- from low- suicide risk with…

Schumer, Jeffries told Biden staying in the race would hurt Democrats in November: reports

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer had a "blunt one-on-one conversation" with President Joe Biden on Saturday, as reported by ABC News's chief Washington correspondent Jonathan Karl. The Washington Post and Axios quickly published similar reports. The conversation topic? Biden's impact on other Democrats running in November.I am told Chuck Schumer had a blunt one-on-one conversation with Biden Saturday afternoon in Rehoboth. Schumer forcefully made the case that it would be best if Biden bowed out of the race.Schumer's office wouldn't comment on the specifics of the conversation, telling me only,…— Jonathan Karl (@jonkarl) July 17, 2024 Schumer's office offered this response…

In 2017, Jean Twenge, a psychologist at San Diego State University, penned an article for The Atlantic titled “Have Smartphones Destroyed a Generation?” Her answer to that scary question was an unequivocal, “Yes.”Analyzing large datasets, such as the Monitoring the Future survey, Twenge looked at the feelings, values, and behaviors of adolescents. She discovered that today’s teens were less likely to hang out with friends or engage in rites of passage such as getting a driver’s…

Meta will reportedly withhold multimodal AI models from the EU amid regulatory uncertainty

Meta has decided to not offer its upcoming multimodal AI model and future versions to customers in the European Union citing a lack of clarity from European regulators, according to a report by Axios. The models in question are designed to process not only text but also images and audio, and power AI capabilities in Meta platforms as well as the company’s Ray-Ban smart glasses."We will release a multimodal Llama model over the coming months, but not in the EU due to the unpredictable nature of the European regulatory environment," Meta said in a statement to Axios.Meta’s move follows a…

Gaussian Splatting LK

Gaussian Splatting LK

arXiv:2407.11309v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Reconstructing dynamic 3D scenes from 2D images and generating diverse views over time presents a significant challenge due to the inherent complexity and temporal dynamics involved. While recent advancements in neural implicit models and dynamic Gaussian Splatting have shown promise, limitations persist, particularly in accurately capturing the underlying geometry of highly dynamic scenes. Some approaches address this by incorporating strong semantic and geometric priors through diffusion models. However, we explore a different avenue by investigating the potential of regularizing the native warp field within the dynamic Gaussian Splatting framework. Our method is grounded on the…

Why are CTFs so important???

Why are CTFs so important???

CTFs are cybersec. competitions where participants solve challenges to find "flags" (pieces of info) hidden in various systems. These challenges test your skills in areas such as cryptography, forensics, reverse engineering, web exploitation, and binary exploitation. CTFs are designed for all skill levels, from beginners to experts. Types of CTFs Jeopardy-Style CTFs: Participants solve a variety of independent challenges in different categories to earn points. The team with the most points at the end wins. Attack-Defense CTFs: Teams are given identical systems to secure and defend while attempting to exploit their opponents' systems. Mixed-Style CTFs: Combines elements of both Jeopardy…
