Travis and his brother Jason talked about Tesla’s electric pickup truck during the latest episode of their podcast, “New Heights” which aired on Wednesday.
Jason, who owns a Cybertruck himself, said he got a “little nervous” when he took the vehicle to the carwash.
“There’s a lot of stuff out there. The Cybertruck short circuits going through car washes,” Jason said on the podcast.
“I think it’s just like they didn’t seal something properly or something like that. But there was like, it did rain once and the car door kept opening when I parked it until it like dried and then it would close again.”
Tesla first announced it was making the Cybertruck in November 2019. The company initially planned to start shipping the vehicle in 2021, but design changes delayed its release to November 2023 instead.
Customers also complained about the Cybertruck after it was released. Some car owners said they noticed their Cybertrucks developing rust spots after getting caught in the rain.
In April, nearly 4,000 Cybertrucks were recalled due to a defect with its accelerator that caused its pedal to jam. Then, in June, over 11,000 Cybertrucks were recalled due to issues with its windscreen wiper.
“They had to get these things out there. They had to rush them out,” Jason told Travis on the podcast.
“They had to rush them out? It took them like three extra summers to figure it out,” Travis said while chuckling.
But the Kansas City Chiefs tight end appeared to be a fan of the Cybertruck. He even expressed interest in getting Tesla’s all-terrain vehicle, the Cyberquad.
The Cyberquad was simultaneously announced with the Cybertruck back in 2019, though it has yet to be released. Tesla released a kids version of the Cyberquad in December 2021.
“Those things are sweet,” Travis said of Tesla’s Cybertruck.
“I want the little four-wheeler. That thing looks sweet,” he added.
Travis’ admiration for Cybertruck comes as a surprise considering the comments Tesla’s CEO has made about Swift.
On Tuesday, Swift said she was endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidency. The endorsement quickly drew a response from Musk, who’d already endorsed former President Donald Trump.
“Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life,” Musk wrote in an X post on Wednesday.
The jab marks a shift in tone for Musk, who used to be more convivial in his engagements with Swift on the platform.
In April, Musk complimented Swift for the success of her latest album “The Tortured Poets Department.”
“I’m not quite the target audience, but nonetheless very impressive indeed!” Musk wrote in an X post on April 29.
Representatives for Travis Kelce and Tesla didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment sent outside regular business hours.
